Uncle Obama's Extortion Racket

Uncle Obama has gotten ahold of your credit card. And he's amassing charges on it that - you - not he - are liable for. You can call the fraud line, you can call the police, you can call any politician or government agency, and they will all tell you the same thing. Shut up and pay up.
 
Since misery loves company, you might feel better knowing that you're not the only one being extorted. Uncle Obama and his buddies have the credit and debit cards of every man woman and child in America. And they're charging up a bundle. So far, each of us has a $38,000 tab that we are personally liable for. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, which by the way, isn't melting.
 
Yesterday, Uncle Obama actually got the limit on your credit card increased. Yup. The House of Representatives voted to increase the overall debt limit, meaning the amount of money they can charge in your name has expanded. This, despite the fact that our national debt now exceeds the statutory debt limit that the Democrats approved last February as part of the cutely entitled Recovery Act. Which, by the way, didn't work. But the intentions were good.
 
For the 7 million Americans without jobs, this is not good news. Not to worry. The media assures us folks that Uncle Obama is going to take care of everything. 
 
Just look at all the things he's doing for us. The House yesterday approved an additional $155 billion of our tax dollars for "shovel-ready" construction projects and money to avoid layoffs of teachers, police and other public employees. Of course the small print says that in order to get any of this money you better belong to a union or be employed by the federal government. If you're Joe Blow or Suzy Homemaker you're just plain out of luck.
 
Maybe you'll sleep easier knowing that the one billion dollar charge on your credit card last Wednesday will go to preserving tropical forests overseas. Or that the $3 billion charge last month will help the Palestinians in their fight against Jewish 'occupiers.' Or that your hard earned money will soon be at work aborting babies in our nation's capitol. After all, we must do our bit to save Mother Earth, and who are we to disagree with the experts who tell us that abortion is a kickass way to do this?
 
Whatever you do, don't worry your head about the charges that are in the works for your almost worthless credit card. The increased energy charges on all of our bills in the coming months will probably only amount to a few thousand dollars for each of us. And they are totally necessary to keep the earth from melting. There is a consensus on this, so just can your objections.
 
If you start to get overwhelmed, you can cheer yourself up by watching the excellent use Uncle Obama has made of your money. Tune in to GM's latest edgy video of The Volt dancers as they whirl and cavort in some artists' idea of how to promote automobiles that are environmentally friendly. And if you would rather eat than support politically connected fat cats at GM and a select group of sensitive artists, then you're probably one of those flat earthers, totally unworthy of any of Obama's largesse.
 
Still worrying? Just stop right now. Uncle Obama has provided a great opportunity for any hungry American with mouths to feed. All you have to do is snitch on your tax-cheating neighbor. New legislation stipulates that you'll be able to appropriate a larger percentage of any taxes the government recovers based on your tip. But before you turn in your former boss or neighbor, check to make sure they aren't one of the federal employees that owe a cool $3 billion in unpaid taxes. I think they're exempt. 
 
For all the diehards out there that still worry about running up bills you can't pay, take heart. Uncle Obama has assured us that if we hurry up and agree to let the government take over health care, then we won't go bankrupt. Just make sure you don't get sick for 3 years till it kicks in.
 
For all the 'deniers' out there, just quit worrying about all the unauthorized charges Uncle Sam is making on your credit card. Sit back and relax. Take advantage of the 24/7 media coverage of how the great Tiger Woods has fallen. Schadenfreude is an excellent panacea. And if you're in luck, the commercials will be louder than the network programming. Since Congress has just ruled this a no-no, you can call yourself a lawyer and make like the government. You can extort your way to unearned wealth.

Headed Towards Defeat In Afghanistan

The Obama administration is headed down the irrevocable path to defeat in Afghanistan, and appears to be waving the white flag in the global 'war on terror.'
 
It has now been more than seven long weeks since the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley A. McChrystal, reported on the desperate need for more troops in Afghanistan, warning that defeating the insurgents will not be possible if the United States fails to "gain the initiative and reverse insurgent momentum" over the next 12 months.
 
McChrystal's confidential report was leaked to the Washington Post on September 21, 2009. It was met with silence from the White House. Well, not quite... On October 4, nearly two dozen House liberals introduced a bill that would prohibit an increase of troops in Afghanistan. And the Senate rejected an attempt to have the top commander in Afghanistan testify about the increasingly volatile situation.
 
As our public servants worked feverishly behind the scenes to deny support to our fighting men in Afghanistan, hundreds of terrorists armed with automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades stormed a pair of remote outposts near the Pakistan border, killing eight U.S. soldiers and capturing more than 20 Afghan security troops in the deadliest assault against U.S. forces in more than a year.
 
Following this attack, U.S. Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates stated that the Taliban now have the momentum in Afghanistan "because of the inability of the United States and its allies to put enough troops into the country."
 
Our President was otherwise occupied accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. The mainstream media was so excited that they kinda forgot to report Gate's dire warning. 24/7 media coverage of the latest Messiah of Peace was followed by news of the exciting Michelle Obama 'action figure.' And the President's exciting 'date night' with Michelle.

Continuing to ignore the worsening situation in Afghanistan, President Obama and the First Lady instead rolled out the red carpet while a group handed out white coats to a select group of doctors, in a staged photo-op designed to further Obama's proposed health care reform. In his televised speech, Obama expressed deep concern for the health of any Americans that aren't covered by government health care, and trotted out several heartbreaking stories to prove it. These stories were later proven false.
 
Meanwhile, our State Department addressed the terrorist problem. They just renamed terrorists "refugees."
 
Obama remained extremely busy in October, making a trip to Copenhagen to lobby for the Olympics to be held in his hometown of Chicago, and appearing on the Letterman Show. But he did take the time to stage a nice little photo-op with a midnight trip to Dover Airfield, along with photographers, to show the nation his concern for our returning war dead. (Concern that was sorely lacking for the victims of the recent Fort Hood massacre)
 
At the end of this busy month, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs informed the nation that Obama has spent "close to 20 direct hours" in meetings on Afghanistan since Gen. Stanley McChrystal's request for tens of thousands of reinforcements was submitted over two months ago.
 
Gibbs went on to say that Obama also spends "quite a bit of time" thinking about the war in Afghanistan, after it was revealed that Obama had spent more time with Oprah than with General McChrystal.
 
Our NATO allies saw that Obama was busy waging war on Fox News and the Chamber of Commerce instead of sending reinforcements to our brave warriors who are fighting and dying in Afghanistan, and started following his cue.
 
On November 6, Canada’s top general issued instructions for his officers to start making their plans to pull out of Afghanistan.
 
The UK is also drawing up plans to withdraw British troops from outlying bases in Afghanistan. And the United Nations has relocated 600 of their Afghan staff out of harms way.
 
The media remains silent on this shocking abrogation of leadership, reporting only that Obama is considering his options and weighing them, as a good President should. The New York Times now reports Obama's decision may not come until December. Meanwhile, the Taliban grow increasingly powerful and our young men in Afghanistan are left wondering if their sacrifice, and their comrades lives, have been in vain.
 
Americans are assumed to have forgotten that Barack Obama campaigned on a promise to reinforce U.S. troops in Afghanistan, which he described as a war we “have to win.” I guess he's changed his mind.
 
To my nephew Christopher, and all our brave young men in Afghanistan, I'd like to say on behalf of most Americans, that I'm so very sorry your lives are being used as political fodder. And unlike Obama, most Americans support you and will keep raising their voices in outrage at the shameless lack of support and leadership being shown by your Commander in Chief.

How To Become A 'Citizen Of The World'

In the summer of 2008, then presidential candidate Barack Obama delivered  a historic campaign speech in Germany. With the Berlin Wall as a back drop, Obama proudly informed the masses that he was not there as a candidate, but as "...a fellow citizen of the world."
 
The crowd went crazy and the world rejoiced. Finally, the United States was ready to join the community of man.  
 
In what former U.S. ambassador to the UN John Bolton calls our first post-American President, Obama has bestowed instant cachet on the growing ranks of Americans who revel in the thought of being the first in their own social set to be considered cutting edge 'citizens of the world.' Especially since joining this community of global citizens confers upon them automatic (albeit, unearned) virtue, along with instant and unassailable moral stature.  
 
For those of you who just aren't with it, (like Christians, conservatives and a few Republicans) here are the latest, up to the minute, details on how to gain inclusion in this trendy and politically correct group.
 
To become a 'citizen of the world,' you must first and foremost declare your support for the disenfranchised. Preferably in front of a camera in a very public forum. Just pick a group of victims upon whom you will bestow your empathy and support. The only caveat being that they reside in underdeveloped countries ruled by misunderstood men of good will like Uganda, or Cuba, or Somalia, or...well, you get my drift. Oh, and make sure everyone understands that these victims are only victims because of George W. Bush and/or America.

Next, you must ardently advocate the spending of other people's money in order to help these poor victims. If you're one of the fortunate 'non-rich,' (meaning your income is under $250,000 and/or you receive a government check every month)  then a straight party line vote for the Democrats, frequent letters to the editor and a catchy bumper sticker are strongly recommended.  In addition, you must make yourself available for the occasional photo-op or rally, and vocalize your support for all of Obama's policies to every-one you know. (T-shirts are a very cool way to do this.)
 
If you're unfortunate enough and greedy enough to have an annual income over $250,000, your membership entrance requirements are a bit more stringent. The good news is, you can skip right over victims and concentrate on vital issues like global warming or the evils of capitalism.
 
For all you rich guys out there, its recommended that you use whatever influence you have to advocate for whichever policy Obama is currently trying to foist on the American public. Bumper stickers won't do it, guys. You need to atone big time.
 
Not to worry, just contact DNC.org and they will give you a list of organizations you should  support. And since you've made all that money on the backs of the poor, social justice requires that you give back some of your own money, instead of merely advocating the expenditure of other people's money.
 
A list of approved recipient groups will be provided free of charge. It is recommended that you give early and often. ACORN is the most needy cause as of this writing. But whatever group you decide to donate your bucks to, rest assured, Obama is in the process of making those donations tax deductible.
 
If you happen to be filthy rich and/or an elected official, different rules apply. In order to be considered a citizen of the world, all you have to do is believe (faking belief  is totally OK) in Obama's vision of utopia. You must believe, or at least profess to believe, that world peace is possible, that the earth is melting, that diplomacy trumps war and that America is the cause of all the world's problems. Other that that, the only real requirement is a constant and sustained effort to ensure that global governance trumps American sovereignty. 
 
Hat-tip: it wouldn't hurt if you make known that yours was one of the Swiss bank accounts the Obama administration recently forced the Swiss to disclose. That alone will ensure you are recognized by the right people.
 
There you have it, fellow comrades. If you have followed the above steps, we want to officially welcome you as a new 'citizen of the world.' Take a load off. You are now eligible to engage in global groupthink, which means that you will never again be forced to make any moral, financial or life decisions on your own. More membership perks are already in the works, and you guys will be the first to benefit! Kumbaya.

Color Me Racist

Its now official. I'm a racist. No less than a former president of the United States has declared that if I oppose the takeover of 17% of our economy under the guise of health care reform, I hate black people.
 
According to President Carter, U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's objection to a 'misstatement' in President Obama's speech to Congress last week was an act "based on racism" and rooted in fears of a black president. And a Rasmussen survey shows that fully 12% of Americans agree with him.
 
The old media has chimed in, with the left's favorite columnist, Maureen Dowd, going a step further. Rep. Joe Wilson said, "You lie' to Obama. But Maureen Dowd heard, "You lie, boy." Boy being one of the many politically incorrect words the left has decided is an indicator of racism. Point made. Case closed.
 
Another columnist, E. Danielle Egan, has joined the growing chorus. In the Philadelphia Enquirer, Egan blithely dismissed the app. 2 million protestors who turned out last weekend to protest Obama's policies, writing them off as illegitimate.  "So I have decided it's time that what I've been watching be called what I believe it is: racism." She continues, "The level of rage being expressed is different and out of sync with what we know from the past." I guess she was visiting Atlantis during the Bush years, or something. 

And just in case anyone has missed the point, ABC has devoted a full story to the racist motives of the Obama protestors.
 
So there. The media and political elite have spoken. Any opposition to Obama means the protestor is a bad person. A person unable to see beyond the color of his skin. A racist. (Isn't that called profiling?)

Conveniently for these elites, they have also decided that responding to ignorant racists is quite beneath them. Being a racist is bad, therefore there is absolutely no need to respond to the underlying complaint. Whew. 
 
This is the ultimate free pass. It almost makes me wish I had been born black. Then  I could make any claims I want, without any facts to back them up, and still maintain the moral high ground.  I could blame every bad decision I ever made on racism and, best of all, put my opponents in the impossible situation of trying to prove a negative. 

I would gain membership in the ever growing class of 'victims', which automatically grants me immunity from the normal rules of civilized behavior. 
 
The fact that Joe Wilson was quite correct in branding Obama a liar is not the point. By diverting the issue to racial animus, Obama's 'misstatement' is conveniently overlooked. This is called a win-win situation.
 
Wilson's audacity in branding Obama a liar has caused a national firestorm. The left is in high dudgeon, quickly spinning the truth of Wilson's (admittedly disrespectful) assertion into a condemnation of his integrity, topping it off with the unprecedented act of issuing a formal rebuke from the House. Bad boy! (Can I say that?) 
 
Not mentioned in this national brou haha is Sen Reid's Dec 15, 2004 statement, where he called called President Bush a liar.  "President Bush is a liar. He betrayed Nevada and he betrayed the country."

I guess its OK to call white guys liars. Even when they can't come up with any specific lie. Its just something everyone knows. Bush lied. Strangely enough, I've never been taken up on my challenge to pay $100.00 to anyone who can cite a specific lie that Bush told. I digress.
 
Also not included in the conversation the left is successfully controlling, is President Obama's statement last week branding Kanye West a *******. But, hey, West is black...this is starting to get confusing.
 
I'm in awe of the left. Though they have admitted not knowing the details of the 1,000 plus pages of the Obama health care 'reform', they have managed to divine what is in my heart. And the hearts of millions of others. And it's called racism.
 
Despite having elected a black president, the left would have us believe that the millions of whites who voted for Obama still hate black people. They would have us believe that, even though we can't see it, racism is still a dominant force in America. Its just evolved into the silent 'institutional' kind of racism that no one can quantify. But its still there. I guess we just have to take their word for it. If we dare question their premise, we're racists. Game, set and match.

What Socialism Is

When a word comes too close to actually identifying an inconvenient reality, secular progressives spring into action. The offending word is either redefined or reduced its first letter, thereby signifying that polite society will no longer accept it. You've heard of the N word, the B word (think Hillary) and now comes the S word.
 
By its abbreviation, the S word, formerly known as socialism, infers a negative connotation. A negative connotation richly deserved due to the incontrovertible fact that socialism has failed every where it has been tried.  
 
In a nutshell, socialism is an economic system where property is held in common, not individually, and its ideal is a centrally directed economy. Socialism entails the substitution of group decision making for individual choice. In this case, the 'group' making the decisions are the 32 (and counting) unelected and unaccountable czars Obama is anointing.
 
The origins of socialist thought come directly from Aristotle. Aristotle believed that since only actions aiming at a perceived benefit to others were, to his mind, morally approved, then actions solely for personal gain (capitalism) must be bad.
 
This theory of Aristotle's is the basic premise of the Obama administration. By claiming the 'moral high ground' of the 'greater good' Obama and his minions have free reign to radically alter both our system of government and the hundreds of years of tradition it represents.
 
Under the guise of altruism and the greater good, Obama has launched a full scale attack on capitalism. The very capitalism that has fed the world for decades. The capitalism that has produced the highest standard of living in the freest and most productive country in the world. But, according to the ruling elite, capitalism is bad, because it entails, gasp, 'profit'. And every progressive worth his salt knows profit is only possible on the backs of less fortunate. Right?
 
Obama and the secular progressives who now determine policy in America pride themselves on being the intellectual representatives of modern thought and thus superior in knowledge, wisdom and moral virtue than those who hold traditional values (conservatives). They believe their duty is to offer new ideas to the public and deride whatever is conventional and/or traditional. Newness, not truth, is their main value.*

The fly in Obama's ointment is the fact that the system of socialism isn't very good at creating wealth. Only individuals do that. But hey, socialism is 'ethically superior' and that's what counts. Right?
 
Obama was voted into office based on his skill at selling abstract ideas like equality and justice. Millions of Americans bought into his spiel. Most likely the very same Americans who buy lottery tickets. Against all reason, they were led to believe that the government can provide them a free lunch. And there will be no cost to them. And best of all, these moochers can also claim the moral high ground. After all, they are victims of rich capitalists. And that's not fair! And its not their fault that they haven't won life's lottery. 
 
The problem with their premise can be reduced to two words. Free will. God gave us free will - the ability to fail or succeed based on the choices we make. Obama proposes to do away with free will and vest those decisions in a central government.

Losers can now breathe a sigh of relief. Whew. Now, instead of losers, they're much valued victims. And the new socialist society Obama and friends are in the process of implementing has a moral duty to shield them from the consequences of their bad choices. But best of all, socialism allows life's losers the moral high ground as they systematically plunder the fruits of another man's labor.

This is socialism. This is what President Obama wants America to be. But students of history insist on asking the question: How long can a society survive that rewards failure and punishes success? Unfortunately, America will get an answer to that question if Obama is allowed to continue transforming our country into his 'new and improved' idea of a socialist utopia.

Who's Minding The Store?

Its impossible to turn on the television these days without being subjected to President Obama pitching one thing or another. In addition to the obsessive 24/7 media coverage of his dog, his wife and his latest sound bite, we also have our President appearing several times a day to lecture the American people on the virtues of being a good father and the virtues of volunteering. (Through a government agency, that is.)
 
Inquiring minds want to know: While Obama spends the majority of his time doing press conferences, town hall meetings and government service announcements, in between vacations and highly publicized jaunts to foreign countries, who's actually running the store?
 
Who is writing the speeches that Obama is so skilled in delivering? Who is formulating the policy Obama is so masterfully promoting? Who is handling the war in Iraq and Afghanistan? Who is handling the economy? And when, exactly, does our President find the time to run the affairs of state when it appears the majority of his time is spent in front of cameras?
 
Glenn Beck of Fox News is the only journalist asking these questions. And the answers he is finding are alarming. All this week, Beck is investigating the unelected, unaccountable 'czars'- the ultra-radical individuals Obama has placed in every segment of the federal government.
 
These czars have carte blanche to implement policy. They have the enforcement power of the federal government but none of the oversight or accountability. And, unreported by the old media, these 'czars' are pushing America down a path towards one world government and outright socialism. (Or fascism, since fascism includes a charismatic leader.)
 
Van Jones - Green Jobs Czar:
Van Jones has admitted a "commitment to Marxist policies". He is a self-proclaimed revolutionary communist and, in his words, he is dedicated to "mobilizing young people into militant action." Van Jones is a board member of the Apollo Alliance which helped write the stimulus bill. Now he has the power to determine where $500 million of our tax dollars he 'smuggled' into the stimulus bill will go.
 
John Holdren - Science Czar:
Holdren looks on forced abortions and sterilization as legitimate population control measures. He points out that there is no mention in the Constitution of the right to have any number of children. As in - no right to reproduce, ostensibly without the approval of the federal government.
 
Cass Sunstein - Regulatory Czar:
This loon actually proposed a ban on hunting and eating meat. Sunstein is in favor of dogs being allowed attorneys. Oh, and he is an ardent believer in taxes, saying, "without taxes there would be no liberty". He also believes that there is "no liberty without dependency."  Huh? 
 
Ezekiel Emanuel - Health Care Advisor:
Ezekial quantifies life depending on age. In other words, a baby isn't a baby until it has received two years of care and feeding. Emanuel thinks we need to ration basic, guaranteed care to only those who can fully participate in society. According to him, a teenager has the same value as 17 elderly people. This guy actually believes the 'the greater good' should trump the Hippocratic Oath.

Carol Browner - Global Warming Czar:
Carol has her work cut out for her. Her job is to achieve her stated goal of global governance, using the non-crisis of 'global warming'. And she has the vast power and influence of the EPA to do it.
 
Mark Lloyd - FCC Diversity Czar:
In Mr. Lloyd's own words: "It should be clear my focus is not on freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is a distraction." Under the rubric of diversity, this czar proposes to do away with private ownership of media. Oh, and he is also a big fan of left-wing thug dictator, Hugo Chavez.
 
These are just a few of the guys whispering into Obama's ears. These radicals are the ones in charge of formulating policy, regulations and dictates. And they all have several things in common. They share our President's view of America as an evil oppressor, they are all anti-capitalist and they are all determined to seize power through unconstitutional means. By fiat, instead of by votes. 

The policies they are proposing to Obama are all uniformly designed to shift power away from the individual and to the federal government. Despite the fact that our founding fathers voted down (several times) a strong and all powerful federal government. This is the 'change' Obama is dedicated to implementing. Scared yet?

Obama Has Saved America!

Thank God! Oops, I mean, thank Obama. The economic crisis is almost over, the 'war on terror' is a thing of the past and, by his own words, Obama and his administration have saved America from catastrophe.
 
President Obama used the occasion of a 1/10 of 1% drop in the nation's unemployment rate to claim both success and validation for his economic policies. He has valiantly brought America back from the brink of the economic chaos that was caused by his predecessor. But as is often the case with Obama, the devil is in the details.
 
In July, 247,000 jobs were lost. Inquiring minds question how the unemployment rate could experience even a slight drop when the stats show Americans are still losing their jobs. John Lott gives us the answer:
 
"The reason is simple -- the number of people who stopped looking for work rose dramatically.  637,000 additional people no longer consider themselves looking for work. This is by far the largest drop in the number of people who consider themselves in the labor force during the last year - almost twice the 358,000 increase in the people who left the labor force during June."

Using Lott's calculations, our actual unemployment rate stands at 16.3%, not the trumpeted 9.4%. Obama would have us believe this is good news. Our president would also have us believe his claim that the $1.2 trillion health care reform proposal is just the ticket to jump start the economy. (Hey, didn''t he just say he already jump started the economy?) I digress...

Now I'm not an expert, but I question how adding unsustainable debt to a record deficit to supposedly fix a non-problem is going to deliver us from financial Armageddon. But Obama says he can add 12 million illegal aliens and app. 25 million uninsured Americans to government health care rolls and this will somehow result in cost savings.

Oh, and despite his own words to the contrary in 2007, Obama now assures us that the public option proposal most assuredly won't put private insurers out of business. Whew.
Since we all know Obama doesn't lie, Americans will, once again, just have to accept the word of our Organizer in Chief. Hey, he's entitled to some slack. After all, he just ended the war on terror.

That's right. A mere six months after taking office, Obama has officially ended the war on terror. From now on, Obama has decreed that we're only at war with Al Qaeda. All our brave warriors in Afghanistan can relax now that global jihad has been vanquished.
 
How did Obama accomplish this amazing feat? He did it in the Democrat's time honored way. He merely redefined the terms. 
 
'Jihad', 'war on terror' and 'global war' are no longer acceptable terms. They have been banished from the polite society the liberals, oops progressives have claimed as their own exclusive province. Case closed.

When I look back at all of Obama's accomplishments of the last six months, I feel pretty stupid for not voting for him. Had I know he had the unique ability to actually redefine reality to his own specifications, I wouldn't have spent so much time dwelling on his criminal cohorts, his socialist buddies and his terrorist 'acquaintances'. I would have had blind faith in him and not pointed out his utter lack of any real accomplishments, experience or character. Boy, do I feel silly.
 
I've decided that I'm finally going to jump on the Obama bandwagon - right after I check out the pig that just flew right by my window.

Calibrate This, Mr. President

Dear Mr. President,
 
I'm one of those Americans that lives in flyover country. I was treated to your much publicized 'teaching moment' last night and felt a response was warranted. 
 
I'd like to say, with all respect, that this American resents the patronizing arrogance you exhibited as you deigned to 'teach America' about race. First off, I don't need lessons on race from you. I take my teachings from the Bible, not a man who sat through 20 years of 'hate whitey' sermons. I'd much prefer you bestow your teachable moments on, oh, say terrorists, or enemies of democracy.
 
Secondly, if you were genuinely interested in promoting racial healing, you might have used that teachable moment last night to address the third rail of race relations: namely, the reluctance of many blacks to look at whites without automatically assuming they are racists.
 
Last night, you had the perfect teachable moment, but, alas, you let it slip through your grasp. You had a wealthy, influential black man who continues to insist he is still oppressed. Then you had the white police officer who was merely doing his job in the correct manner. And then, we had you, Mr. President, a prime example of the problem. Said problem being the automatic assumption of racism without any facts to back it up.
 
You might have touched on the fact that many blacks of your generation have been taught that anything bad that happens in their life is a result of white oppression. You could have extrapolated or calibrated the fact that attitudes like that are extremely counterproductive and keep many blacks mired in the false comfort of victimization.
 
You might have addressed the fact that the only oppression happening these days is by your buddies Castro, Chavez and all the other third world dictators you seem to think are misunderstood men of good will.
 
Hey, you actually could have lectured your buddy Gates on the proper etiquette when dealing with law enforcement officers. Think of the great message that would have sent to young Americans. Respect for the law. That would have been a good thing to teach. But you let the opportunity pass with nary a word.
 
I'm sorry you didn't get a good soundbite or photo op out of this unrelenting media saga. I know you were envisioning a hearty three way handshake that could be flashed around the world, signifying absolutely nothing. But the evening wasn't a total waste. I actually did learn something.
 
I learned that you, and Henry Gates and other black men continue to believe that America is a racist country. I learned that you, Mr. President, will never solve any problems of race until you acknowledge your own racism against whites. I don't think that will happen in my lifetime but I will continue to 'hope' for 'change'.
 
And just out of curiosity, I was wondering what in the world you, the President of the greatest country in the world, is doing mediating the equivalent of a traffic ticket when our young men are dying in Afghanistan, our economy is in meltdown and Iran is on the brink of nuking Israel. Do you really think that was the best use of your time and political capital?

Silent Scandals

Most Americans love a good scandal. Schadenfreude, the taking of pleasure from the misfortunes of others, is a basic element of human nature. Granted, not the prettiest, but nonetheless, there is something deeply satisfying about seeing the mighty brought low, the arrogant humbled and the wrongdoer getting his just dessert. A reminder to us all that misfortune is not ours alone.
 
Mainstream media obliges and indulges this base emotion, as ever more 'news' concentrates on he said, she said imbroglios. Ratings soar as the latest Palin/Letterman twist is breathlessly reported. Internet news providers join in by posting the most lurid and shocking aberrations of the unlucky few who had the misfortune to get caught in what the media decides is a 'scandal'.
 
Oddly enough, despite the guaranteed ratings that accompany most scandals, the media is choosing to ignore what many consider major scandals - or would consider major scandals if they were actually reported. But they're not. The media, working in tandem with liberals, oops, progressives, now decide which scandals get coverage, raising the question, 'Is it still a scandal if its not reported?' Inquiring minds want to know.
 
In just the last month, an unusual number of what were formerly regarded as scandals went unnoticed and largely unreported by the old media, to wit:
 
Obama recently fired an Inspector General of Americorps, giving him one hour to resign or be fired. This, in direct contradiction to legislation Obama co-sponsored as Senator, requiring 30 day notice and an explanation. Obama, after railing at Fox News for their audacity in pointing this out, declared that he didn't fire Gerald Walpin because he was investigating a friend and contributor of Obama. No, he was firing him because the Inspector General was 'confused and disoriented'.
 
Needless to say, if Obama took the time to personally fire everyone who was 'confused and disoriented', he'd start with his own press secretary and then go on to, well, I digress.
 
Despite the numerous and ongoing media stories regarding former President Bush's perfectly legal firing of US attorneys years ago, the media, with a handful of exceptions, has decided not to report that Obama's firing of Gerald Walpin was not an isolated incident. Two other IGs have been dismissed in the past two weeks. The media has ignored this alarming trend, focusing instead on Donald Trump's firing of Miss California. Moving on...
 
Monica Conyers, the wife of longtime Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) received a letter Tuesday indicating a pending indictment from federal authorities on corruption-related charges. Yawn. Good thing it wasn't Newt Gingrich's wife.
 
News briefly surfaced that Senator Durbin, after a closed door meeting with the Federal Reserve right before the economic crash, quickly cashed out his stock holdings, raising the question of insider trading. A question which will most likely go unanswered. Martha Stewart must be fuming.
 
A report detailing how UN workers are actually stealing food from the starving people for whom it was intended and selling it on the black market was merely a blip on the radar. The UN said it had no idea that the food wasn't getting to the starving people of Somalia until shown pictures of UN-packaged goods on sale. Yawn.
 
Likewise a report detailing about $55 billion worth of fraud to date in the handling of the so-called stimulus funds went virtually unreported. Billions of our tax dollars, down a black hole. A non-event.
 
And remember 'Cold Cash' Jefferson? The Democrat caught with a cool $90,000 in his freezer? He's currently on trial. The media has chosen not to cover the story. Moving on...
 
What about Barney Frank? He blasted President Obama yesterday over a controversial anti-gay marriage court filing and is calling on the commander in chief to explain himself. Something Barney has yet to do when the rare reporter dares to question him about his role in promoting Fannie Mae, to the detriment of thousands of shareholders. (Or his earlier scandal, when it surfaced that his town home was being used as a gay cathouse by his boyfriend of the moment.)

When's the last time you heard about the ACORN scandal? This organization, a recipient of our tax dollars, is under investigation for voter fraud. The media reporting to date would lead one to believe that its all the fault of a few rogue employees, despite evidence to the contrary, which was reported only by Fox News.

House Democrats just crushed a GOP amendment to cut funding to this scandalous organization. At the same time, they halted a GOP amendment to investigate Speaker Pelosi's claim that the CIA lied to her.  Don't bother looking for this on the nightly news.

The list goes on. Sen. Ronald Burris, caught on tape in a lie regarding his new Senate seat.  Likewise down the memory hole are Charlie Rangel's tax 'misstatements', Harry Ried's questionable land deal, and Obama's questionable land deal. Democrats, all.

Oh, and let's not forget all the questions, unreported by the media, regarding why Obama has refused to release his birth certificate. Or his college transcripts.
 
Here's another scandal. A huge scandal that affects each and every one of us. The media's selective reporting, and non-reporting, that has resulted in many Americans actually believing that the GOP is the party of scandal, the party of the ethically challenged. I find this scandalous. But then, I'm just an average American in flyover country, one of the peons the media is supposed to keep informed.

The real scandal is: Its not a scandal if a Democrat does it, if it involves a progressive cause, or if the media decides not to report it. This effectively denies every American the right to enough information to make an informed decision. Yawn.

Shame On Yoiu, Mr. President

Graphic video of an Iranian woman being shot dead while watching the Iran protests with her father is sweeping the net. While Iran state media is doing its best to put a muzzle on foreign media reporting on the violent revolution unfolding in Iran, American media is under no such constraints. Americans are treated to the news that Obama is eating an ice cream cone.
 
As news of 20 deaths so far between protestors and police in the streets of Tehran is reported by Iran's state media, American media reports that Hillary Clinton is recovering from surgery on her elbow. Though the surgery has been described as minor, it has apparently left Hillary without a voice, as no statement has been forthcoming from our Secretary of State about the millions of Iranians who are risking death to protest their oppression by a tyrannical government.
 
President Obama, after being elected President in part due to his carefully crafted image as a champion of the oppressed and supporter of equality for all, has decided that America will remain neutral, as he made clear while addressing (and validating) 'Supreme Leader'. As the chaos in Iran accelerates, Obama assures the world that he is 'bearing witness.'  I'm sure the Iranian people are breathing a collective sigh of relief.
 
As events continue to unfold, Obama has been forced to devote a small part of his never ending television face-time to opine that Iran should stop "all violent and unjust actions." Noticeably lacking in Obama's address was the passion he showed a mere two days ago, when he put critics of his financial overhaul on notice, saying, "While I'm not spoiling for a fight, I'm ready for one."
 
One would almost believe that our president considers American businessmen more of a threat than a murderous regime, systematically involved in oppressing and killing its own citizens for the crime of seeking freedom.
 
Shame on you, Mr. President. Shame on you for being the first American president in history to decline to stand up for freedom and democracy.
 
As our president takes to the airwaves to exhort American fathers to be better fathers than his own, millions of Americans are doing what he is not. Standing up for the Iranian people. Demonstrations are springing up in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and across the country as the American people strive to make known their support for the Iranian people in their quest for freedom. Ditto in France, as thousands of people gathered north of Paris on Saturday to show their support for Iranian opposition protesters.
 
This American, while shamed by our current administration, is proud of America, knowing that the example our country has set and the freedoms we enjoy, serve as an example of what is possible. This American is proud that the Iranian people also have the example of Iraq to serve as a barometer of what might be feasible in their own country.
 
As our President concentrates on empty rhetoric and his own political viability, the people of America are taking to the streets. Showing by their actions that the American ideal of democracy and freedom is alive and well. And showing the Iranians that the American people, if not its president, are actively supporting them as they risk their lives to gain the basic freedoms that we take for granted. 
 
Who knows, maybe one day the Iranian people will return the favor.

62 Million Voiceless Americans

Is it still called debate when only one side controls the conversation? That's the question the 62 million Americans who didn't vote for Obama are asking themselves.

62 million Americans now have absolutely no voice in the way our country is being governed. No say in the quadrupling of our debt or in the onerous taxes being piled on top of record unemployment. They have no say in the pending trillion dollar health care 'reform' or the more costly 'cap and trade' legislation steadily making its way through Congress.
 
With Democrats firmly in control of the White House and the House of Representatives, and most likely the Senate, the left has found no need for bipartisanship. After all, 'Obama won.' Case closed.
 
Should any pesky Republican complain, the voice goes unheard - kinda like a tree falling in a forest. Did it really fall if no one heard it? The right is reduced to pondering questions like these as the left continues implementing radical change at breakneck speed. Changes that affect every segment of our society and every single American. Changes that are being implemented without the requisite 'national conversation'. Why hold a conversation?
 
The left is in control and there is no need to consult with the people they were elected to govern. The politicians and the experts know best. And should the GOP try to halt this tsunami of 'change', a quick change of the filibuster rule to 51 instead of 60 is put in place. That'll teach em.
 
Under the guise of fighting the non-crisis of global warming, the EPA has declared the very air we breathe to be dangerous. Not to worry. Uncle Sam will save us. Here comes cap and trade. It will only cost $3,100 extra in energy costs per family.
 
Under the guise of universal health care, our government is preparing to take over app. 17% of our economy by nationalizing health care. Not to worry, they are consulting with the policymakers in Canada responsible for the sterling healthcare in that country. The very same government health care that forces Canadians to come to the US to get their medical needs taken care of. 
 
Under the guise of saving the economy, the feds have taken over banks, insurance companies and car companies, prompting even thug dictator Chavez to joke, "Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right."  
 
Under the guise of saving us from those nasty capitalists, Obama has appointed a new Pay Czar to make sure no-one is paid more than the politicians deem they are worth. At least those who are unfortunate to work for companies that have received bailout funds. And in one case, the formerly sovereign state of South Carolina has actually been forced to take bailout funds, and accept all the strings that come with it.
 
Consent of the governed is being ignored as the Obama administration hijacks ever more power to the federal government, in direct contravention of the 10th amendment and the Constitution. And 62 million Americans can do nothing except marvel at the audacity.
 
The left is rejoicing at finally being able to implement utopia here on earth. A utopian vision that has consistently failed whenever it has been foisted upon a populace, either through charisma or brute force. But never mind. Obama's utopia will work, experts assure us.
 
The experts who now hold us hostage are first and foremost, political beings, having been appointed 'czars' on the basis of political connections as opposed to merit. They are thoroughly steeped in theory and liberal orthodoxy and severely lacking in real world experience.

These unelected czars (15 at last count) now have control of our tax dollars and the regulatory bureaucracy that enables them to enforce their whims. Whims which are based more on political expediency than the rule of law. They will never be held accountable when their theories are tested and fail. And fail they must, as history has taught the 62 million people who didn't vote for Obama.
 
 As we speak, the left, with the willing compliance of an adoring media, are kowtowing to our enemies while demonizing and penalizing capitalists, the very wealth creators whose money now allows the government to implement an agenda anti ethical to the American way of life.
 
The Obama administration, under the guise of tolerance, inclusion, multiculturalism, empathy and concern for the disenfranchised, are destroying jobs though regulation and taxation. A total of 2.19 million jobs have been lost since Obama became President. (The news that Wal-Mart will be adding 22,000 jobs this year is ignored, as they did it without unions or government help.)

The Democrats are enacting legislation that makes it impossible for America to become energy independent, while at the same time, partnering with Arab countries to help them develop nuclear energy.
 
Our 'leaders' are burdening America with an unsustainable level of debt while at the same time, continuing to send our tax dollars ($106 Billion) to the IMF to bail out the world. And sending $200 million more to Pakistan to help out with their refugees.

The Left, with Obama as its messiah, believing that all cultures and countries should be equal, are systematically reducing America to third world status. A level playing field at last. Whew.
 
Meanwhile, the 62 million people who didn't vote for Obama wait in vain for their own elected representatives to stand up and say STOP. Alas, aside from a handful of Republicans like Sarah Palin, Mark Sanford, Jim DeMint, Rick Perry and Dick Cheney, the silence from the Republicans is deafening.
 
62 million Americans are watching America squander its greatness on the altar of catchy, unproven, politically correct notions. And this American is wondering if the destructive policies that are being foisted upon us without our consent and without debate, are being enacted through stupidity or design.

The Devil In The Details

Defying history, reality and common sense, Obama's $3.5 trillion budget resolution passed by Congress earlier this month signals a dramatic shift in the priorities and scope of the federal government.

Not that most Americans are aware of this. The media has kept them pacified with extensive coverage of the $17 billion in cuts contained in the proposal. Cuts that represent one half of one percent of the proposed budget. Cuts that aren't really cuts at all, merely a shifting of our tax dollares from one program to another.
 
The Washington Examiner reports that Republican strategists are having a problem. "The scale of what President Barack Obama proposes to do to the American economy is so enormous, so far-reaching and so potentially disastrous that the opposition party is having a hard time describing it." Well, I'm not a Republican strategist, I'm just one of the people in flyover country that has to pay for this fiasco and I have no trouble describing it:
 
Our budget deficit in 2009 will top $1.8 trillion dollars. That's a 400% increase over last years' deficit. Translation: For every dollar the government spends, .48 will be borrowed. Budget office figures released Monday would add $89 billion to the 2009 red ink — increasing it to more than four times last year's all-time high.
 
One doesn't have to be an economist or a degenerate gambler to know that a house built on sand eventually collapses. We're already seeing it. The United States posted its first April deficit in 26 years, a record $20.91 billion shortfall. But not to worry, Obama is going to cut $17 billion. Whew.
 
Historical evidence of the economic harm caused by raising taxes in a recession is ignored as the Obama administration continues its frantic grab of ever larger portions of the dollars produced by the hardworking men and women of America.
 
President Obama's "Budget Blueprint" proposes to raise the tax rate on dividends and capital gains from 15 percent to 20 percent. Heritage Foundation says: "This works out to $27 billion of lost value for current and future retirees unnecessarily redistributed to Congress. That works out to $434 of lost retirement savings for each family."   
 
In case we the people object, Obama has also proposed nearly doubling funds to enforce U.S. tax laws next year, with an aim of more than quadrupling funding for tax compliance to $2.1 billion within five years. Tax compliance means IRS. You know, the agency that wields absolute power over each and every one of us. (Correction: over everyone who is not an elected official or heading up a government agency)
 
After successfully demonizing the oil companies, Obama offers a gift to all the underachievers and professional victims by socking it to the 'rich' - whose definition is constantly changing, kinda like the Constitution. Obama proposes to end $26 billion in oil and gas industry tax breaks, calling them ''unjustifiable loopholes'' in the tax system that other companies do not get. Hey, I'm all for 'equality', aren't you?
 
Next up: The Obama administration will propose $60 billion in new tax increases over 10 years on wealthy estates, businesses and others to pay for an expensive overhaul of the health-care system. After all, the rich are only rich because they exploited the poor. And the poor, (again, as defined by the left) have a right to health care, just as they now have the right to housing, education, absolute equality and the right not to be offended. Its called social justice. And its a wonderful thing, allowing our elites moral cover as they pick our pockets bare.
 
Meanwhile, the government revised estimates for the long-term solvency of Medicare and Social Security on Tuesday, moving up the date when trust funds for the entitlement programs will run out of money. It looks like Medicare will be insolvent in eight years, meaning, it will be the problem of the next administration. Most likely, a Republican administration, unless, of course, the GOP continues to emulate the left and ends up emulating themselves out of existence.
 
I know economics is a dreary subject. I also know Obama is counting on economic ignorance, lofty rhetoric and a Democrat majority to pass this budget monstrosity. Having the media in his pocket doesn't hurt.
 
Even with the media focusing on the $17 billion in cuts instead of the bigger picture, most Americans aren't aware of what these 'wasteful spending and unnecessary programs' Obama is claiming as budget cuts include:
 
* Nixing aid to states to pay for jailing illegal immigrants
* Nixing abstinence only sex-education
* Cutting in half a benefits program for the families of slain police and safety officers 
* Eliminating new funding for advanced-generation equipment to detect nuclear weapons and radiological materials at U.S. borders and ports and around New York City .
* Canceling plans to extend the border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border beyond the 670 miles already completed or planned.
* Cutting the budget of OLMS, the federal agency that investigates financial crimes that occur when union officials steal from their union
.
Each and every cut signifies the loss of a hard won battle fought by the 62 million people who didn't vote for Obama. The 62 million people that now have absolutely no effective representation or say in the new and improved path our country is on. A path that has already led us to socialism.
 
But hey, just because socialism has failed every time its been tried doesn't mean it will fail under Obama. And (when) if it does, Obama will just redefine failure, leaving conservatives, once again, to mop up the mess. And leaving the American people, once again, paying the very real price for yet another failed utopian vision that our elected officials could have avoided by merely studying history instead of indulging their own political fortunes at the expense of their country.

Obama's Rippling Pecs

Just as I didn't want to hear the explicit details about Bill Clinton's private parts when Juanita Broderick accused him of rape back in the 90's, neither do I want to see the current President of the United States featured on the front page of a magazine with his chest bared.
 
Color me a prude for caring more about the image of the United States than Obama's rippling pecs. Personally, I don't think they ripple that much but hey, the media says they do, so they must. Color me old fashioned for believing modesty is not an outdated virtue. And color me disgusted that the president of the greatest country on earth allows his half naked image to be displayed and included in the new culture of celebrity.
 
Yes, sales of the magazine will go through the roof. And yes, the younger set will consider Obama the essence of cool. And the feminists? They're having a collective orgasm as we speak.
 
To feminists, Obama is the quintessential metrosexual. For all you other prudes out there, a metrosexual is a feminist invention designed to redefine a 'real man'. Guys like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood are out - they exemplified the now outdated version of strong men who used brute force instead of relying on dialogue and charm.
 
The new revised version of manhood is more politically correct. Body hair is out and testosterone is best kept under wraps. Strong silent types are passe. The new male is sensitive and knows how to cry. The new male is more gentle, more feminized, less threatening, less male. More, well, Obama.
 
In the face of overwhelming acceptance of the new-improved 'man' I feel kinda silly. My idea of a real man is more along the lines of Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery. You know, the type of guy that wears the pants as opposed to the dude who uses hair spray and nail polish.


As I gaze on Obama's bare and rippling chest, I don't see a real man. I see the nerd that gets sand kicked on him by more powerful members of the species. I see a narcissist who values his exterior over his interior. But like I said, that's just me. And my kind of thinking is way out of tune these days.
 
As my feminist mother will tell you, my problem is I can't alter my basic nature in order to be in tune with the times. My nature insists there is a basic difference between men and women. Men are stronger. They are the protectors of women and children, whether or not those women and children think they need protecting. Women are the nurturers, taking care of their men and their children. You know, the role they've played since the dawn of man.
 
When I see Obama cavorting around in his swim suit, I don't feel, well, secure. I keep thinking of all those nasty terrorists that want to annihilate us. I know its silly, but I just can't envision Obama as a warrior, a protector, a 'real man'. I also can't keep from wondering why everyone sees him as handsome and sexy and virile. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
 
Our president has been called the world's greatest celebrity. That may be true. My question is, what happens when the celebrity fades, as it always does. Who will be left to deal with the threats our country faces, both at home and abroad?  If I had to bet my last dollar, (and its almost come to that) I'd bet on murdering jihadists over a cool guy with rippling pecs any day. But that's just me.

Blame America First

President Obama traveled to Latin America last week and used his world stage, once again, to assure foreign leaders that America is but one culture among many and to apologize for America's greatness. 
 
Expounding on his campaign promise to promote equality, Obama assured America's foes that the United States is no better than any third world country. "I pledge to you that we seek an equal partnership," Obama said to Venezuela dictator Chavez. "There is no senior partner and junior partner in our relations." He then proceeded to, once again, apologize for America's arrogance.
 
Obama's much vaunted tolerance was proudly on display as he politely endured a 50 minute anti-US diatribe from Nicaragua dictator Daniel Ortega. He then graciously, and publicly accepted a book from his new buddy, Venezuela dictator Chavez. Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent, a virulently anti-American book, instantly skyrocketed to #6 on Amazon.
 
The left is rejoicing at the apparent instant friendship between President Obama and thug Chavez, celebrating the vindication of their long-held belief that dialogue is better than war and that apologizing for America is a cool way to win friends and influence people.
 
Mea culpa is now official U.S. policy. In Mexico earlier last week, Obama took the occasion to blame America for all the gun violence in Mexico. Despite the fact that the report he was echoing has been thoroughly discredited, Obama stoically echoed the 'fake but accurate', theme made popular by the likes of (discredited) Dan Rather, (discredited Nobel prize winning author) Rigoberta Menchu, (discredited sex researcher) Kinsey..., well, you get the idea.
 
President Obama promised he would reach out to the rest of the world. One of his main campaign pledges was a vow to make everyone like us. Never mind that that kind of thinking is usually seen only among school kids. Obama wants us to be popular. And now we are. Just as long as we're humble and continue kowtowing to despots.
 
The problem is, our new best friends are not very savory characters. From Castro to Kim Jong Il to Achmadenijad to Chavez, these guys are the school yard bullies. They routinely kill their own citizens, they impose law by fiat, they jail or kill any dissidents and generally impose their will on all citizens unfortunate enough to reside in their countries. But hey, it works for them.
 
Liberals, oops, progressives, hold the belief that dialogue, not guns, will cause third world dictators to realize and then remedy the error of their ways. Totally absent from their equation is any recognition of past history. Namely, the last 20 or so years that produced lots of words and dialogue yet spectacularly failed to influence or change any actions or policies.
 
Believing that his charm can trump reality, President Obama remains intent on changing the world. But first, America has to be brought down to size. We must acknowledge yet again the sins of our past and, like celebrities who hit bottom, apologize profusely and publicly and then enter rehab to assure the world we are, indeed, sorry.
 
Obama is a great communicator who convincingly tells the world what they've yearned to hear. Namely, that America is arrogant. And we're sorry. And by the way, our system of, gasp, capitalism, despite being the engine that has fed the world, is flawed. And we're sorry.
 
Our culture is responsible for all the world's ills, and we're sorry about that too. Mea culpa, mea culpa. On the bright side, now that the Obama administration has branded most conservatives as extremists and terrorists, maybe Obama will apologize to them too. Ya think?

America's new president is well suited to displaying America's humility. That's because he really believes what he is saying. One need only look at his 20 year attendance at a church that preached hatred of America. One need only look at his (now former) associates, domestic terrorists Bill Dorn and wife. One need only listen to Michelle Obama's own words on her 'pride' in America. One need only read Obama's own book. America is to blame for everything wrong in the world. Case closed. Let's move on. Oh, and we're sorry.
 
When I asked my beautiful and smart, yet decidedly liberal niece, Sarah, why she voted for Obama, she thought a moment and then said, "He believes in the same things I do." When asked to expound, she said, "Equality."
 
68 million Americans voted for Obama based on the same lofty ideal. Equality, inclusion, tolerance, multiculturalism and the 'fake but accurate' belief that America is a racist, arrogant and imperial nation that needs to atone to the world for its sin of freedom and greatness.

The left, as exemplified by Obama, firmly believe all of life is a zero-sum game i.e.: if someone is rich, its always at the expense of the poor. A person, business or country is only successful because they hijacked success from those less fortunate. They view America as a nation of victims, oppressed by those that have the audacity to become successful and/or rich (without government help).
 
The 62 million Americans who didn't vote for Obama think differently. They believe, based on history, that kowtowing to dictators is interpreted as a sign of weakness. They believe, based on reality, that all the carrots in the world will not change the minds of enemies dedicated to America's downfall. They know from experience that accepting or rewarding bad behavior only encourages more bad behavior. They know, and Reagan proved, that America's strength, real and perceived, is the single largest factor in avoiding war with recalcitrant dictators.
 
Equality is a wonderful concept. But, as Laurence Reed of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) says, "Citizens of free countries are not equal. And countries where citizens are equal, are not free." That is a reality that no amount of rhetoric or mea culpas can change. Sorry.

Obama's Alternate Reality

A wife confronted her husband in bed with another woman. As the other woman hastily donned her clothes and beat a hasty retreat, the husband looked deep into his wife's eyes and said, "What woman?" As in, "Who are you going to believe, me or the evidence of your own eyes?"
 
A parallel scenario is playing out in the media, with the White House denying that President Obama actually bowed to the Saudi King on his recent trip abroad.
 
Despite the widely circulated video of said event showing Obama kowtowing to some Arab dude, we are expected to believe the White House line that Obama didn't bow. The word 'bow' has thus joined ranks with the word 'is' in terms of, well, a matter of definition. Context, if you will.
 
Like a small boy caught with a chocolate mustache summoning outrage, outrage on being accused of eating mom's chocolate cake, so too, is the left in high dudgeon over the temerity of some disgruntled fringe kooks daring to challenge the evidence of their own eyes. "He didn't bow, he's just a tall guy and had to bend over!". Right.
 
Obama's latest complete disregard of reality is not an isolated incident. Those of the liberal, oops, progressive persuasion are adept at crafting their own reality. And any challenge to their reality is met with immediate deflection and scorn for the one who is so utterly naive that they haven't recognized that the rules, along with words, have changed. Evolved, as they say.
 
Language is now like the constitution. The 'living' Constitution, adopted by liberals to reflect the times rather than the meaning of the founders, now means what ever an activist judge says it means. And the new, improved language of the left now means whatever the liberals, oops, progressives, want it to mean.
 

To understand the ever changing rules, one is advised to keep a small notebook in order to keep track of the current reality. The word liberal has been replaced with progressive. The term investment has replaced the nasty old word taxes. Climate change has replaced global warming, which makes sense, since the earth is cooling, and 'climate crisis' sounds almost as scary as a 'global warming crisis'. 
 
Oh, and the word bow now means 'A gesture of submission wherein the subservient one kneels and touches his forehead to the ground in front of the dominant one.' And Obama most decidedly didn't do that, as any moron can see.
 
The list goes on.
 
This progressive rearrangement of reality has a name. In medical terms, its called cognitive dissonance. But the ever changing rules now dictate that anyone who mentions that inconvenient fact is, de facto, a member of the vast right wing conspiracy. And membership in that group automatically nullifies any criticism. Got it?
 
Actually, in terms of disorders, cognitive dissonance is a cool one to have. Imagine, being able to rearrange reality to your own specifications. Pretty heady stuff! In the blink of an eye, world peace is achievable. With the utterance of an impassioned plea, the world is magically free of nukes. With a nod from Obama, the UN becomes the only policing body the world needs. No longer do we need to waste millions on defense. All threats to our country are now only in the minds of conservatives.
 
And lets not forget those terrorists. All of a sudden, with the offer of a hand in peace, they are rendered harmless. (Please add Kumbaya to your notebooks.)
 
One of the coolest changes is in the word sin. Please note, sin now reflects only a few limited actions performed by those who still, gasp, believe in God or reside on the right. For the rest of us, the only sin is any action or crime against Mother Nature. Whew. No more Hail Mary's as long as you recycle.
 
Crime is another good one. Please note: crime now only refers to crimes against the environment or anything a Republican is accused of, as defined by those who know best. (Those who know best now means any government official).
 
All other crime, say, by actual criminals, is now classified as an involuntary act brought about by a hapless victim.
 
Obama promised us change. And by golly, we've gotten it. With a few adjustments here and there (don't worry, others will pay for them) we are on the brink of achieving utopia. If only in the minds of the liberals, oops, progressives.
